The New Association in Favor of Electric Cars in Mexico Goes Through Agreements with the US

Francisco Cabeza Santillana, founder of the new association, said that they will soon hold these meetings at the United States embassy in Mexico.

The new association that will seek to accelerate the use of electric cars in Mexico, AMIVE, will hold meetings with the US authorities to establish agreements in favor of electromobility in Mexican territory and in harmony with the American region.

Francisco Cabeza Santillana, founder of the new association, said that they will soon hold these meetings at the United States embassy in Mexico.

In an interview after the official presentation of the Mexican Association to Promote Electric Vehicles (AMIVE), during the Latam Mobility Summit meeting, the manager spoke about the various challenges that have already been detected in the group he leads.

“We have several challenges at the industry level: Visualizing the country's electrical capacity, standardizing the connection formats of electric vehicles and many other things that are on the agenda, which have been mentioned in many forums, but which have not been achieved” , said.

He explained that among the various needs of the country regarding electromobility, it is necessary to establish a connectivity standard, such as the SAE, which governs from Alaska to Colombia, which would facilitate the mobility of electric units that from Mexico want to continue their path beyond the borders.

After the meetings at the US embassy, Cabeza Santillana shared, they will begin to manage the agenda, and sit down with European countries, North America, and China. To date, AMIVE already has 39 members, including chambers, banks, car manufacturers, electric charger manufacturers and installers.

The purpose of this new group coincides with that of other institutions and companies that wish to promote electromobility, although according to Francisco Cabeza, there was no organization 100% dedicated to electric mobility.
